Heart attacks and heart disease are one of the top five causes of deaths in humans. In most cases the earlier that one catches the signs and symptoms of heart disease the better the chances are that one will survive and not become a statistic. As this is such a common concern amongst people both men and women, one should be aware of the signs of a heart attack.

The heart attack symptoms for women are the exact same symptoms as the heart attack symptoms for men, except in women they are more likely to experience other symptoms besides chest pain such as nausea, light headedness, or heartburn.

The traditional heart attack symptoms are the same for both men and women. This includes chest pain, usually in the center of the chest or off to the left. Upper body pain, this is usually a dull ache that is present throughout the upper body from the shoulders, neck, and back area. Heartburn like pain in the stomach. Shortness of breath. Sweating, one may begin to notice that they are sweating a lot more then normal, especially if the weather is colder and the sweat is not caused by heat. Nausea and vomiting, many heart attack sufferers happen to experience vomiting and a feeling of nausea.

Although the most commonly known symptom is that of the chest pain, not every heart attack sufferer will experience chest pain. Some heart attack patients do not have chest pain, but instead experience other symptoms. Although in almost every heart attack patient some type of pain, be it in the stomach, back, chest or arms, has been experienced and developed as a symptom. The symptoms will vary greatly depending upon the person. Some studies have suggested that many women do not suffer chest pain, but instead are more likely to feel a dull ache in the back, suffer from heartburn like pain, or have nausea and vomiting.
